Hermes tracking: German statuses explained in English

6 min read

Peek is an independent tracker, not Hermes. It shows what Hermes’s own tracking publishes.

Hermes Germany is the Otto Group's Hamburg-based parcel carrier, focused on deliveries within Germany. Track a parcel with its Sendungsnummer (tracking number) on myhermes.de, in German only, or paste the number in the box above. The sender has the number; Hermes's own emails reach you if the sender passed on your email address.

Hermes tracking number: where to find it

Hermes's form asks for the "Sendungs- oder Quittungsnummer" (shipment or receipt number), 14 to 20 letters or digits. Hermes doesn't say where recipients find it, and sends no SMS. No number? Ask the sender, or see how to find a tracking number.

Shape (invented)What it is
H1234567890123456H and 16 to 19 digits: Hermes's alone.
1234567890123114 digits: Hermes, DPD, BRT, SEUR and others use them.
H123456789012349H and 15 digits: Hermes's, or an Evri barcode from the UK.

The 4-digit TAN Hermes emails for some parcels is a handover code, not a tracking number.

Hermes tracking statuses in English

The German lines and labels you'll meet, in order:

Hermes saysWhat it means for you
Die Sendung wurde Hermes elektronisch angekündigt.Label created: the sender booked it; Hermes may not have it yet.
Die Sendung wurde von Hermes in … übernommen und wird für den weiteren Versand vorbereitet.Hermes has it, at the place named.
In 1 - 2 Tagen, In 2 - 4 Tagen, OffenHermes's forecast: 1 to 2 or 2 to 4 days, or none yet.
Die Sendung wurde ins Zustellfahrzeug geladen und wird voraussichtlich heute zugestellt.Out for delivery, expected today.
Du bist der nächste StoppLive tracking: you're the courier's next stop.
Die Zustelladresse wurde nicht gefunden. Mögliche Gründe: Fehler in der Adressübermittlung. Bitte PaketShop buchen oder Kundenservice kontaktieren. The courier couldn't find your address (see below).
Abholbereit seit, AbzuholenReady for pickup since, and until, the dates shown.
Abgeholt amPicked up on that date.
Die Sendung wurde an der Empfangsadresse zugestellt.Delivered to your address.
Die Sendung wurde erfolgreich zugestellt.Delivered (seen on parcels abroad).

If the first line doesn't change within 2 to 3 days, Hermes says to ask the sender. Für die Sendung wurde ein WunschPaketShop gebucht. is a booked preference, not a movement. Left with a neighbour? Hermes's card or email says which one, as does its tracking once you enter your postcode.

Hermes delivery, ParcelShops and missed deliveries

When it comes. Monday to Saturday, 8:00 to 20:00. Within Germany, the tracking, app or an email usually shows a non-binding window of up to 4 hours the day before.

Changing it. Hermes PreferredDelivery (WunschZustellung) offers four free options: a safe place, a ParcelShop, a neighbour or another day (up to 6 working days later). Book under "Zustellung ändern" in Hermes's tracking or app with your postcode, no account needed, until shortly before delivery. Greyed out means no date yet, the sender doesn't allow it or logistics rule it out. Safe place and neighbour are at your own risk.

If you're out. The courier tries a nearby neighbour or your safe place, then leaves a card or sends an email. Within Germany it tries on three consecutive working days, though Hermes's terms allow a ParcelShop after the first. After three misses Hermes keeps the parcel for ten days; you can ask for a fourth attempt, and if that fails it goes back to the sender.

ParcelShops (PaketShop; over 17,000 in Germany) keep a domestic parcel for 7 working days from arrival. Bring an ID card from the EU, EEA or Switzerland, a German residence permit or a passport in English or French; a driving licence won't do. Someone else needs your signed authorisation (Vollmacht) and their own ID, though not every sending shop accepts one.

Address not found. Hermes writes by post and holds the parcel at its depot (7 working days, or ten days: its pages differ). Send the right address through the contact form; redelivery is usually the next working day.

Hermes parcel late, lost or damaged

No update. Hermes doesn't list every step, so a quiet day can be normal. See why tracking stops updating.

Missing. After 5 working days, ask customer service to search through the contact form. If the search fails for 20 days (30 internationally), Hermes emails a loss form. Its terms make the sender the claimant, so tell the shop too.

Damaged. For an online shop's parcel, Hermes sends you to the shop. For a private sender's parcel, report visible damage at delivery and hidden damage within 7 days, per Hermes's terms.

Delivered but not there. Hermes's Declaration of non-receipt opens only from a link in a Hermes email, and asks you to confirm you've asked your household and neighbours. See delivered but not received.

Hermes customer service and contact number

As read on 10 October 2026:

  • Contact form on myhermes.de, in German: under "Empfangen", pick "Wo ist meine Sendung?" or another topic. Replies come by email.
  • Damage form: Schaden melden.
  • Post: Hermes Germany GmbH, Kundenservice, Postfach 62 02 60, D-22419 Hamburg.

Hermes lists no customer-service phone line, hours or chat; the head-office number is marked as not customer service, and couriers can't be contacted.

Tracking a Hermes parcel with Peek

Peek recognises H and 16 to 19 digits at once. For 14 digits it asks Hermes first when the last digit fits Hermes's check digit; otherwise press "Change" and pick Hermes Germany. For H and 15 digits it asks only Hermes Germany. With an extra leading zero, a 14-digit number isn't recognised as Hermes's: drop the zero. Other lengths Hermes accepts, such as H and 20 digits, need "Change" too. myhermes.de links can be pasted; no postcode is needed.

It shows the status, history, expected day (not Hermes's time window), sending shop and delivery time. At a ParcelShop it shows "Ready for pickup" with the shop's name and address. It drops your name, address and booked preferences. Each scan keeps Hermes's German sentence; delivery to a neighbour, or pickup at a ParcelShop, counts as delivered. A parcel in a Hermes Box shows "Ready for pickup" until you take it out with its pickup TAN. Hermes gives no scan places, so the map stays empty.

Peek checks every 10 minutes, every 2 once out for delivery, and can notify you of every scan, important steps only or delivery day only. It doesn't follow parcels to other carriers, and old numbers show as not found once Hermes deletes them after 30 days. Hermes Einrichtungs-Service (furniture) is a separate carrier, picked by hand.
