Correios Brazil tracking: codes, statuses and customs

9 min read

Peek is an independent tracker, not Correios Brazil. It shows what Correios Brazil’s own tracking publishes.

Correios (Empresa Brasileira de Correios e Telégrafos) is Brazil's post. A parcel sent from Brazil keeps its Correios code all the way, and the post of the country it's going to delivers it. A parcel bought abroad keeps the sending post's code, and Correios delivers it in Brazil. Track it on Correios' tracker, which takes up to 20 codes or a CPF or CNPJ and asks you to type the text from an image, or paste the code in the box above.

Correios tracking code: what it looks like

Correios describes tracking codes as 13 characters: two letters for the type of service, nine digits, and two letters for the country of origin, BR for Brazil. The letters follow the Universal Postal Union (UPU) standard. With invented digits:

CodeWhat it is
EA000000005BRE: EMS, the express service.
CA000000005BRC: parcel post.
LA000000005BRL: tracked letter post.
RA000000005BRR: registered letter post.
NN000000005BRN, B, D, P or Z (and AV to AZ, GA, GD): letters the UPU keeps for domestic or bilateral services.
RA000000005CNChina Post's, not Correios'. Coming into Brazil, Correios delivers it under this code.

The ninth digit checks the other eight, so one wrong digit usually makes the code invalid. Correios notes that some parcels from abroad also carry a code ending BR, from a specific Correios service. No code? Correios says to ask the shop. Its tracker keeps a parcel's history online for 180 days.

Correios tracking statuses explained

Correios writes its statuses in Portuguese, with the town and state (UF) of each scan. The meanings below are translations:

Correios saysWhat it means for you
Etiqueta emitidaA label was issued. Correios doesn't have the parcel yet.
Objeto postadoPosted: Correios has it.
Objeto em transferência - por favor aguardeMoving between Correios units ("in transfer, please wait").
Objeto recebido pelos Correios do BrasilA parcel from abroad has reached Correios in Brazil.
Informações enviadas para análise da autoridade aduaneira/órgãos anuentesIts details went to customs and the other agencies that check imports.
Aguardando pagamentoTaxes or a fee are due before delivery: see Minhas Importações below.
Análise concluída - importação autorizadaThe check is over and the import is allowed.
Saída do Centro InternacionalIt left Correios' international centre for delivery in Brazil.
Objeto saiu para entrega ao destinatárioOut for delivery to you.
Objeto não entregue - carteiro não atendidoThe postman found nobody to take it.
Inconsistências no endereçamento do objetoSomething is wrong with the address.
Objeto entregue ao destinatárioDelivered to you.

Some lines mean trouble. Importação não autorizada means the import wasn't authorised; Prazo de regularização encerrado, that the time to settle the import ran out; Devolução determinada pela autoridade competente, that the authorities ordered it back to the sender. Objeto saiu para entrega ao remetente is out for delivery to the sender, not to you.

Correios' import pages also name Em fiscalização aduaneira (under customs inspection). While it shows, Correios says, the parcel isn't in its hands.

Parcels from Brazil to Europe and elsewhere

Correios clears the parcel through Brazilian export customs and hands it to the post of the destination country, which delivers it under the same code (the UPU allows one per item). That post's tracker has the last leg first-hand, for example Royal Mail, USPS, Canada Post, An Post, Australia Post, La Poste, CTT, Correos, Poste Italiane or Deutsche Post.

If your customs holds the parcel, Correios says you deal with it directly: neither Correios nor your post can step in. In the EU, goods bought online from outside the EU in parcels worth up to €150 have carried a €3 customs duty since 1 July 2026, per item (goods sharing one tariff classification). From 1 November 2026, a €2 handling fee per item will apply to goods bought online, whatever their value. What you pay and how your post collects it: parcels held at customs.

Parcels into Brazil: CPF, taxes and Minhas Importações

CPF. "Every parcel coming from other countries is an import, and every import needs a CPF," says Correios. The CPF must be in good standing and your name must match Receita Federal's records.

Minhas Importações. Correios handles customs online in Minhas Importações and the Correios app, after a one-time sign-up to Meu Correios. There you link parcels to your CPF, send documents customs asks for, and pay.

Taxes, as Receita Federal lists them (page updated 12 June 2026):

  • Import duty: 60% of the customs value (goods, freight and insurance). This general rule covers any parcel the next rule doesn't: one from a shop outside Remessa Conforme, or one for a company.
  • Bought on a site certified in Remessa Conforme (PRC) and sent to a private person: 0% up to US$50; above that, 60% with US$30 off the duty. This applies to declarations registered since 12 May 2026; before, it was 20% and US$20 off.
  • ICMS, the state tax: 17% to 20% depending on the state, PRC or not.
  • Correios' fee for its customs work (Despacho Postal) may come on top. It isn't a tax.

Over US$3,000, or if customs won't release a parcel for another reason, Correios says you must hire a customs broker (despachante aduaneiro).

When you pay. On a PRC site, taxes are paid at checkout; if the checkout shows none, they'll be charged on arrival and you lose the reduction. Otherwise, pay by boleto or Pix in Minhas Importações or the app within 20 calendar days of the charge appearing, or the parcel goes back abroad. Think the amount is wrong? Request a "Revisão de Tributos" there before generating the boleto or Pix. You can send documents only once, and Correios can't say how long Receita Federal takes.

Delivery. If Correios can't deliver it, the parcel goes to the nearest branch and you get a notice. Parcels from abroad wait 20 calendar days after the home delivery attempts, 7 for EMS and Correios Packet. Someone else can collect with your signed authorisation, their original ID and your ID (a copy will do).

Scams. Correios never sends payment links or asks for personal or bank details by email, SMS or WhatsApp, and Receita Federal doesn't send boletos, call or email about taxes. Go to correios.com.br yourself, not through a search engine; see delivery scam texts.

Correios parcel not updating, lost or returned

The code never shows up. Correios asks you to check with the sender that the code is right, letters included, and that the parcel was posted. If it was, the sender files a complaint.

Stuck at customs. Correios gives no time for customs checks. Watch Minhas Importações for a request for documents or payment; see why tracking stops updating.

Paid but not delivered. Once the delivery forecast in tracking has passed, file a complaint (manifestação) on Correios' site.

Lost or damaged. Complaints go through Correios' Fale Conosco with a Meu Correios account, by whoever posted the parcel or generated the tax boleto or Pix. For items to or from abroad, the deadline runs from the posting date: 120 days for EMS and Correios' express services, 6 months for the rest; for Correios Packet imports, 90 days after delivery or return (30 for damage). Correios aims to reply within 5 working days and pays compensation only into a Brazilian bank account. Under Brazilian law, an item belongs to the sender until it's delivered, so outside Brazil ask the sender or shop to claim; see lost parcels.

Returned. Objeto entregue ao remetente means it reached the sender again. Ask the shop to refund or resend; see returned to sender.

Correios contact number and customer service

As read on 23 October 2026, Correios lists, in Portuguese:

  • Phone (SAC): 4003 8210 in state capitals and metro areas, and from mobiles elsewhere; 0800 881 8210 from landlines elsewhere. Monday to Friday 8:00 to 20:00, Saturday 8:00 to 14:00, except public holidays.
  • WhatsApp: (11) 4003-8210, which also handles tracking.
  • Chat: Carol, on correios.com.br.
  • Complaints: the Fale Conosco portal.

Sorting and delivery units take no calls.

Track a Correios parcel with Peek

Peek names Correios at once for two letters, nine digits and BR when the check digit is right. With a wrong one, Peek names no carrier, and if you pick Correios with "Change" it says Correios "doesn’t issue numbers like this one": check the code. Correios tracking links with objetos= work too.

Peek fetches Correios' history and shows the status, each scan with its town and state on the local clock, the service name, and Correios' expected delivery date while the parcel is in transit and not late. Statuses stay in Portuguese.

Correios doesn't tell Peek where a parcel is going, so outside Brazil Peek also asks your national post (USPS, Royal Mail, Canada Post, An Post or Australia Post, for example) with the same code and switches once it shows newer scans, keeping Correios' history. A parcel coming into Brazil under another post's code is followed on that post; Peek also asks Correios once that post names Brazil as the destination (or, if it names none, when you're in Brazil).

Peek checks every 10 minutes by day, every 2 once the parcel is out for delivery, and hourly overnight. It can notify you with "All tracking updates", "Important only" or "Delivery day only". It can't contact Correios, pay taxes or file a claim for you.

Questions about Correios Brazil tracking

What does "Objeto em transferência - por favor aguarde" mean?

"Item in transfer, please wait": the parcel is on its way between two Correios units in Brazil, and there's nothing for you to do yet.

Why does my Correios parcel say "Aguardando pagamento"?

Taxes or Correios' fee are due. Pay by boleto or Pix in Minhas Importações or the Correios app within 20 calendar days, or the parcel goes back abroad.

How long does Correios take to deliver?

It depends on the service and, in Brazil, the postcode (CEP); Correios' tracking shows a delivery forecast. For a parcel from abroad, the time counts from Saída do Centro Internacional, once customs has released it.

Can I track a Correios parcel outside Brazil?

Yes, with the same code: on Correios' tracker, then on your own post's tracker once it arrives.
