Pošta Srbije: Serbian Post tracking, statuses and help

7 min read

Peek is an independent tracker, not Pošta Srbije. It shows what Pošta Srbije’s own tracking publishes.

Pošta Srbije (the Post of Serbia) is Serbia's national post, and Post Express is its courier service. Track an item for free on posta.rs's Track and Trace, in the Post of Serbia app, or by pasting the number in the box above. The number comes from the sender.

Serbian Post tracking number

Pošta Srbije uses the international postal format for every trackable item: two letters, nine digits, two letters. Posta.rs calls it the reception (identification) number, and its search takes only that number, not a name or address. The first letters tell you the kind of item.

Shape (invented)What it is
PE123456785RSPost Express, the courier service: PE.
CP123456785RSA parcel: C and a second letter.
RE123456785RSA domestic registered item: RE.
RR123456785RSA registered item to or from abroad: R and a second letter.
EE123456785RSEMS: E and a second letter.
RR123456785CNAn item from abroad keeps the foreign post's number, ending in its country.

Insured letters start with V. If you're the recipient, ask the shop or sender for the number: Pošta Srbije's own SMS and Viber messages only announce an item's arrival. Can't find it? See how to find a tracking number.

The same shape with other letters at the end belongs to another post: …SI is Pošta Slovenije, …HR is Hrvatska pošta.

What Pošta Srbije tracking statuses mean

Posta.rs has Cyrillic, Latin and English versions. The table mixes the short English words of Pošta Srbije's app with the site's published status list, in order.

Pošta Srbije's statusWhat it means for you
ReceiptAccepted and weighed at the counter. The site's list calls it Reception.
DispatchSent on to the next office, also by a post abroad.
TransportHanded to transport abroad at the office of exchange.
ArrivedArrived at an office, in Serbia or abroad.
In charge of delivery at post officeOut for delivery with the postman or courier.
Left reportNobody was in: a notice of arrival was left.
Neuspešan pokušaj uručenjaA post abroad tried and failed to hand it over.
DeliveredDelivered.
Refuses reception/Not requestedRefused by the recipient, or not collected.
Returned to senderOn its way back to the sender.
Delivered (to the sender)Back with the sender: returned, not delivered to you.

Delivered (to the sender) is the confusing one: it says delivered, but to the sender. Neuspešan pokušaj uručenja stays in Serbian even in English answers. A delivered item also shows who signed, with date, time and place.

Notices, post office pickup and parcel lockers

If nobody is in, the postman leaves a notice of arrival (Left report). Storage counts from the day after the notice, whether it came on paper, by SMS, Viber or email. Pošta Srbije keeps items, unless the sender agreed otherwise:

  • 5 working days at the post office for most items;
  • 20 days for items arriving from abroad;
  • 30 days for poste restante items.

You can ask in writing at any post office to keep it up to 30 days, or to forward it to another address in Serbia, with ID and postage paid. You, an authorised person or an adult family member can collect it with the notice and an ID showing the address (ID card, passport, refugee ID or foreign travel document; not the new-form driving licence).

Post Express brings items to the address by 19:00 the next working day, with a free SMS on arrival. If the sender chose it, you collect at one of 1,100 post offices with ID and the SMS.

Parcel lockers (Poštin paketomat): the notice comes by Viber or SMS. Open the locker 24/7 with the link in the message, the Direct4.me app, or by calling the number given. The posta.rs FAQ gives 2 business days in the locker, then the rest of the storage period at its post office. To have a parcel go to a locker instead, answer "yes" to Pošta Srbije's Viber or SMS question by 17:00.

Serbian Post parcel delayed or lost

Pošta Srbije guarantees no deadlines abroad and expects international parcels to take 7 to 15 days; domestic parcels take up to 5 working days. Tracking of an item sent abroad ends at the office of exchange, when it leaves Serbia. If nothing moves for days, see tracking that isn't updating.

Lost or late. The sender starts the claim, with the confirmation of receipt, usually at the posting office, but not within 10 days of posting (express items and parcels with a set deadline can be claimed once it has passed). Deadlines: 60 days from posting within Serbia, 6 months for international items. Pošta Srbije answers within 8 days, or 2 months for international claims. Unregistered items have no claim procedure.

Damaged or missing contents. Claim when you receive it, at the latest the next working day, at the post office, which inspects it with you and writes a record. Not by email; later claims bring no compensation. If the item says delivered but you don't have it, see delivered but not received.

Tracking Pošta Srbije with Peek

For a postal number ending RS with a valid check digit, Peek asks Pošta Srbije (and Chronopost) and shows "Pošta Srbije has this parcel." when it knows the number. If not yet, you see "Not found at … yet. Peek will keep checking after you add it." With a wrong check digit Pošta Srbije isn't asked: check the number, or pick it with "Change". Posta.rs tracking links can be pasted too and always name Pošta Srbije; a postexpress.rs link works when it holds a valid postal number.

An item from abroad keeps its foreign post, even when it's going to Serbia. Pošta Srbije's lookup takes any postal number, though: pick "Pošta Srbije" with "Change", or paste a posta.rs link. Peek can also follow it there when the carrier abroad names "Serbian Post" or "Post Express".

Peek reads the same service as Pošta Srbije's app. It checks every 10 minutes, every 2 minutes on the last leg, and can notify you when the status changes. Each step goes on a map with its Serbian post office (only the country for a step abroad), with the weight and the time it was delivered. Times in Serbia are Belgrade time; a step abroad is read on that country's clock, and one in a country with several time zones doesn't appear. Pošta Srbije gives no expected arrival day and names no pickup point. Who signed, postcodes and payment details are left out. Statuses keep Pošta Srbije's wording, except Delivered, shown in Peek's own words.

Questions about Serbian Post tracking

How do I track a parcel from abroad to Serbia?

Enter the foreign post's number, ending in the sending country's code, in posta.rs's Track and Trace: it covers registered items, parcels and EMS from abroad.

Can you track Post Express?

Yes. A Post Express number starts with PE and ends in RS, and you track it on posta.rs or in the Post of Serbia app, which shows Post Express items at the main transfer points.

What is Pošta Srbije's email address?

[email protected], for complaints or compliments. Damage claims can't be made by email: report damage at the post office when you receive the item.

How long does Pošta Srbije keep a parcel at the post office?

5 working days for most items and 20 days for items from abroad, counted from the day after the notice. You can ask in writing for up to 30 days.
