Posta Shqiptare tracking: Albanian Post numbers and statuses

9 min read

Peek is an independent tracker, not Posta Shqiptare. It shows what Posta Shqiptare’s own tracking publishes.

Posta Shqiptare (Albanian Post) is Albania's national post, with 533 post offices across the country. It handles mail and parcels within Albania, from abroad and to other countries, EMS included. Track an item in the "Gjurmo objektin" (track an item) box on postashqiptare.al or in its e-Posta app, or paste the number in the box above. For an online order, ask the seller for the number.

Posta Shqiptare tracking number: what it looks like

Posta Shqiptare tracks items by a 13-character barcode: two letters for the type of service, nine digits, and two letters for the country the item was posted in. The last of the nine digits is a check digit. With invented digits:

Shape (invented)What it is
RR000000005ALStarts with C, E, L or R and ends in AL: an item posted in Albania.
UA000000005ALOther first letters, still ending in AL: also numbered in Albania.
RR000000005CNEnds in other letters, here CN for China: another country's post numbered it. A parcel coming to Albania usually has such a number, and Posta Shqiptare's tracker follows it too.

The box on Posta Shqiptare's website takes only this shape; anything else gets Kodi eshte i gabuar! (the code is wrong). No number? Posta Shqiptare says to ask at the counter of the post office that hands out your mail, with your name and surname. See how to find a tracking number.

Posta Shqiptare tracking statuses explained

Posta Shqiptare's own lines are in Albanian with English after the slash; lines it passes on from the post in the destination country are in Albanian only. The wordings Peek knows, roughly in order:

Posta Shqiptare saysWhat it means for you
Pranim objekti nga klienti / Receive item from customerPosted at a Posta Shqiptare office.
Objekti u nxor nga thesi per perpunim / Receive item at location (Inb)Taken out of its bag for processing at a post office or sorting centre in Albania, soon after posting and before the item leaves the country, though the English half says (Inb), inbound.
Objekti u pranua ne zyren e shkembimitThe destination country's post received it at its office of exchange: it has arrived in that country.
Regjistrimi i informacionit doganor te objektitCustoms information recorded: it is with customs there, or held by them.
Objekti u dergua ne zyren destinacionSent on from the office of exchange towards delivery.
Objekti u pranua ne zyren e shperndarjesAt the delivery office.
Tentative e pasuksesshme ne shperndarjen e objektitA delivery attempt failed. Another delivery can follow.
Objekti u dorezuaDelivered.

Some EMS items going abroad travel with a courier, and Posta Shqiptare passes on its lines in Albanian:

The courier's lineWhat it means for you
Nisur nga origjinaIt has left Albania.
Mbajtur ne doganeHeld at customs in the destination country.
Mbërritur në qendrën e shpërndarjesAt the courier's delivery centre.
Marrë nga korrieriTaken by the courier. It doesn't say the item is out for delivery.
DorëzuarDelivered.

Peek files these lines under its own stages: "Received by carrier", "In transit", "At customs", "Delivery attempted" and "Delivered". A line it doesn't know yet shows as Posta Shqiptare wrote it. More in what tracking statuses mean.

Receiving a parcel from abroad in Albania

Customs. Posta Shqiptare clears customs in advance for items from abroad with goods worth more than €22, or gifts worth more than €44, up to €1,000 an item. The item goes to the post office in the centre of the town it's addressed to, and you get a written notice. There you pay the customs duty and a fee for preparing the customs declaration, and take the item at once. Posta Shqiptare's two pages differ on the duty: its customs page says 22.4% of the declared value for an online purchase over €22, its FAQ 22.4% to 38% for an item declared at over €22, counting the price plus transport as the customs value. You only go to the customs office at the Transit Centre branch if customs holds the item for inspection or finds goods that aren't allowed. More in parcels held at customs.

Delivery times in Albania. Posta Shqiptare's standards for mail posted in Albania before an office's last collection time: the next day by 14:00 in the same city, the next day (within 24 hours) in every other city, and on average up to 3 working days to villages.

Posta Shqiptare parcels abroad: services and who delivers

Services. A small packet (paketë e vogël) of goods takes up to 2 kg, a postal parcel (kolipostë) up to 20 kg. EMS carries documents and goods up to 20 kg to around 200 destinations in 2 to 5 days, Posta Shqiptare says.

Tracked. Since 3 January 2026, small packets of goods up to 2 kg go abroad as Tracked, which replaced registered mail for them. Only three scans are required: leaving Albania's office of exchange, arriving at the destination's office of exchange, and reaching the delivery office, a delivery attempt or the delivery. Tracked has no signature on delivery, only a delivery scan, and no compensation for loss or damage.

Delivery times. Posta Shqiptare's standards for packets and parcels are 7 to 10 working days to Europe on average, and 10 to 14 to the Americas, Asia and Africa.

Who delivers. After it leaves Albania, the post in the destination country takes the item on, and Posta Shqiptare's tracker shows that post's lines in Albanian. Check your own post's tracking with the same AL number too: USPS, Royal Mail, An Post, Canada Post, Australia Post or NZ Post. Delivery attempts and pickup follow your post's rules: see missed a delivery.

EU customs. Albania is outside the EU, so a parcel to Ireland, Italy, Greece or any other EU country goes through customs there. Since 1 July 2026, goods bought online from outside the EU in orders up to €150 carry a €3 EU customs duty per item. Since 1 November 2026, a €2 Union handling fee per item applies as well, whatever the value. An item is the goods in a parcel that share a tariff classification, description and, where required, origin. Elsewhere, your own country's rules apply.

Posta Shqiptare tracking not updating, late or lost

Quiet after it left Albania. A Tracked packet needs only three scans, so days without news are normal. Once it has arrived, check your post's tracking with the same number: see why tracking stops updating.

Late, with no update. The sender goes in person to the post office where they posted the item and fills in an inquiry form with both people's details, the contents and a contact number. Posta Shqiptare then asks the destination country's post for news.

Complaints. The sender can complain that an item hasn't arrived up to 3 months after posting for mail within Albania, or 6 months for mail abroad. For mail abroad it's free, on a form at the post office where it was posted. Posta Shqiptare answers within 15 days, or 2 months for mail abroad. For a parcel coming to you, ask the sender to check with the post they used, or the shop for an online order: see lost parcels.

Shown as delivered but not there. A Tracked packet is delivered without a signature, so ask the post that delivered it first: see delivered but not received.

Track a Posta Shqiptare parcel with Peek

Peek recognises a C, E, L or R, another letter, nine digits and AL as Posta Shqiptare when the check digit is right, and shows "Detected carrier"; "Change" picks another. With a wrong check digit, it says "This number’s check digit doesn’t add up.": check the number you were given, or choose "Track it as typed". Links to e-Posta's tracker work too. Filed under Posta Shqiptare, a parcel shows "Waiting for the carrier" until its first scan.

A number ending in AL that starts with another letter, such as U or V, isn't filed under Posta Shqiptare by its shape alone. Paste it all the same: Peek follows more than 3,500 carriers. While it checks, it shows "Checking tracking services…"; it asks Posta Shqiptare first, and shows "Posta Shqiptare has this parcel." when Posta Shqiptare knows it.

A parcel coming to Albania under another post's number is filed under that post, and Peek doesn't ask Posta Shqiptare about it on its own. To follow it on Posta Shqiptare's tracker, open the parcel and choose "Change carrier", then Posta Shqiptare: Peek keeps the history while it checks.

Peek shows each line in Posta Shqiptare's wording, and a scan abroad with the country's name in English. It drops an office name that holds a postcode, and anything after a delivery's wording that could name who took the item. It shows no expected delivery date, as Posta Shqiptare gives none. Peek reads Posta Shqiptare's own lines on Albanian time, and works out the clock of the lines from abroad from the place they name or the scans around them.

When you track from another country, Peek also asks your country's post with the same AL number: USPS, Royal Mail (Parcelforce for a number starting with E), An Post, Canada Post, Australia Post, NZ Post, DHL in Germany, Poste Italiane, ELTA in Greece and others. It switches to that post once it has fresh scans, and keeps Posta Shqiptare's history. From Kosovo, Montenegro or Turkey, it asks no other post.

Peek checks every 10 minutes, and hourly after two days without news (12 hours while the parcel still shows "Label created" or "Received by carrier"). Alerts: "Every scan", "Important steps" or "Delivery only". Peek can't contact Posta Shqiptare, your post or the shop for you.

Questions about Posta Shqiptare tracking

Why is my Posta Shqiptare tracking not updating?

How long does Posta Shqiptare take to deliver?

By its own standards, in Albania, the next day between cities and up to 3 working days on average to villages. Abroad, packets and parcels take 7 to 10 working days to Europe and 10 to 14 to the Americas, Asia and Africa, on average. EMS takes 2 to 5 days, it says.
