bpost tracking: statuses, Pick-up points and contact
bpost is Belgium's postal company, the brand of the bnode group that delivers the last mile in Belgium and the Netherlands. Track a parcel on bpost's Track & Trace or in the My bpost app with its barcode, or paste the number in the box above. The barcode comes from the shop's shipping email, bpost's text or email, the shipping label or the notice in your letterbox.
bpost tracking number: where to find the barcode
bpost calls the tracking number the barcode. It is on the shipping label, the Post Office receipt, the notice of absence and the confirmation email. A shop usually emails it, sometimes as a Track & Trace link. No barcode? Ask the shop. More tips in how to find your tracking number.
The most common shapes bpost lists (examples invented):
| Shape | Example | What it is |
|---|---|---|
| 24 digits starting 3232 or 3299 | 323200000000000000000000 | Parcel barcode |
| 18 digits starting 3232 | 323200000000000000 | Parcel barcode |
| Two letters, nine digits, BE | CE123456785BE | International postal number from Belgium |
| R, a letter, nine digits, two letters | RR123456785BE | International registered mail |
| 30 digits starting 010 | 010000000000000000000000000000 | Registered mail within Belgium |
A barcode starting with U exists only for customs: the sender or buyer chose delivery without Track & Trace, and the item arrives within 5 working days of customs clearance, says bpost.
A postal number ending in another country's letters belongs to that country's post. A mistyped digit in a number ending BE breaks its check digit, and Peek may then suggest Chronopost instead. Some 24-digit numbers belong to InPost or Ciblex.
bpost Track & Trace statuses explained
bpost's Track & Trace is available in English, French, Dutch and German. These are the English wordings a parcel meets, in order:
| bpost says | What it means for you |
|---|---|
Confirmation of preparation of the shipment received | The sender has announced the parcel. bpost doesn't have it yet. |
Item information registered manually at the counter | The sender handed the parcel in at a counter. |
Item is announced / Landmark Global (bpost) received the information | A cross-border parcel was announced to Landmark Global, the group's brand for parcels across borders. |
Landmark Global (bpost) has received the item | Landmark Global has the parcel. |
Arrival at facilities | The parcel reached a bpost depot. |
Your item has been sorted | Sorted and on its way. |
Departure to country of destination | Leaving for the country it is going to. |
Your shipment has arrived at the postal operator of the country of destination and will be delivered in the coming days | The destination's post has it and will deliver it. |
The postman's delivery round for your item has started | Out for delivery today. |
Item available at Pick-up point | Ready to pick up at a Pick-up point or Parcel Locker. |
Item delivered | Delivered, or picked up at the point. |
Item arrived at the distribution center - Item can't be assigned to a delivery round - missing information means the delivery office couldn't put the parcel on a round because some information is missing. If nothing changes, ask the shop.
Delivery, Pick-up points and Parcel Lockers
If you're out and set no preferences, the postman will generally try a neighbour or a safe place. If that fails, you get a missed delivery notice and can pick the parcel up at the Pick-up point named on it from the next working day. bpost emails you when it is ready; a paper notice comes only when bpost can't reach you digitally. The postman can't come back the same day, but after a missed Saturday delivery they pass by again the next working day.
How long it waits. A Pick-up point keeps the parcel 14 calendar days, a Parcel Locker (Bbox) 5 calendar days with no extension. Then it goes back to the sender. Anyone with the barcode can pick it up; registered mail needs the named recipient's ID card or a proxy signed on the notice.
Lockers. Bbox lockers are open 24/7 and need no account. Scan the QR code from the My bpost app or email; screenless lockers open only through the app over Bluetooth.
Changing the delivery. In MyPreferences or the My bpost app you can choose a safe place, a neighbour, a Pick-up point or a Parcel Locker. While the parcel is on its way you can send it to another nearby address or postpone it once by one working day. Neighbour and safe place can be changed until 5 minutes before delivery, a Pick-up point or locker until midnight the evening before.
bpost parcel delayed, lost or not delivered
Stuck. For parcels going abroad, bpost asks you to wait at least 5 working days without a change (neighbouring countries) or 10 (the UK and everywhere else), then ask the sender to contact bpost. See why tracking stops updating.
Who complains. As the recipient you can't file a complaint yourself. Most senders have an arrangement with bpost for lost or damaged parcels, so ask the shop for a reship or refund. Only the sender can start an investigation.
Damaged. Contact the sender within 7 days with photos; for a parcel from abroad, contact bpost too.
Delivered but not there. Ask the neighbours, check your letterbox (small parcels go in without a ring), your preferences and the safe-place photo in the app or Track & Trace. bpost also has a form for undelivered shipments; keep the barcode and the recipient's postcode ready.
Customs. Parcels from outside the EU must be cleared first. You pay the import costs in advance, preferably in the My bpost app or Track & Trace, within 14 days. On orders under €150, bpost lists €3 per item in import duties, plus €21.50 administration costs if the shop didn't collect VAT and duties up front. Check bpost's page on parcels from outside the EU and the customs guide.

Tracking bpost parcels with Peek
Peek names bpost straight away for a valid number of two letters, nine digits and BE, and for JJBE followed by a letter and 18 digits. An 18-digit number is asked of bpost alone; a 24-digit one of bpost, InPost and Ciblex. One starting 3232 or 3299 stays with bpost when bpost knows it; otherwise, if two carriers know it, you pick with "Change". The 30-digit registered numbers work only after picking bpost with "Change", and the 27-character JJBEA form isn't recognised. No bpost link is read, and bpost itself is asked without a postcode. A U barcode is named bpost, though bpost doesn't track it.
bpost's scans carry no time zone, so Peek doesn't show bpost's own scan list. It takes the dated history from universal tracking services, asks bpost again every 6 hours and, if no service answers, shows bpost's current status, dated when Peek saw it. A tracking service may need the delivery postcode, and you'll be told. Statuses keep bpost's English wording, and a parcel delivered back to the sender shows as returned. You can be notified when the status changes.
bpost gives no expected delivery day. Peek drops the sender, recipient, addresses, contact details, delivery preferences and proof of delivery.
Questions about bpost tracking
What is bpost?
The brand that delivers parcels and post in Belgium and the Netherlands for the bnode group, formerly bpostgroup. The group's brand for cross-border parcels is Landmark Global.
Does bpost deliver on Saturday?
Parcels, sometimes, when the sender (certain web shops) has a weekend agreement with bpost: to a Pick-up point or Parcel Locker on Saturday between 8:00 and 17:00, or to your home on Sunday between 9:00 and 19:00. Letters and registered mail come only on weekdays.
Does bpost have live chat?
Yes, for some services including Track & Trace. bpost publishes no chat hours.
Why can't I track my bpost parcel?
Usually the sender hasn't handed it to bpost yet. A barcode starting with U has no Track & Trace at all.
