GLS Austria tracking: statuses, Parcel Shops and contact
GLS Austria (GLS Österreich) has its head office in Ansfelden and 11 depots. It delivers Monday to Friday, and parcels sent within Austria usually arrive within 24 hours. Track one on GLS Austria's tracking page with the parcel number or the Track ID from GLS's notification card, or paste the number in the box above. The number comes from the sender, so start with the shop's shipping email. On GLS's German tracking page, the statuses are in German: the table below translates them.
GLS Austria parcel number and Track ID
GLS's Austrian tracking takes parcel numbers and Track IDs, several at once if you separate them with a space, comma or semicolon. The Track ID is on the notification card GLS leaves or emails after a delivery attempt, which also says where your parcel is now. GLS publishes no number format. The shapes Peek knows as GLS Austria's:
| Number (invented) | What it is |
|---|---|
00000000000 | 11 digits. Also fits GLS Germany, GLS Switzerland, GLS France, GLS Poland, PostLogistics and others. |
000000000009 | 12 digits, the last a check digit. Also fits GLS Germany, GLS Switzerland, GLS France, GLS Poland, BRT and others. |
| Track ID | On GLS's notification card. GLS's tracking page takes it; in Peek, use the parcel number. |
If the shop's email names Austrian Post or another carrier, the number is theirs. No number at all? See how to find your tracking number.
GLS Austria tracking statuses in English
GLS Austria's German tracking page shows a headline status, a progress bar (Datenerfassung, Unterwegs, Ziel-Paketzentrum, In Zustellung, Zugestellt) and, once you give the delivery postcode, the scans. What they mean:
| GLS says | What it means for you |
|---|---|
| The sender has entered the parcel's details. GLS doesn't have the parcel yet. |
| The sender has it ready for GLS to collect. |
| GLS has it. |
| Moving between GLS parcel centres. |
Ziel-Paketzentrum | At the depot that delivers it: delivery comes next. |
| In the van, expected today. |
| Not delivered: nobody was home. |
| GLS has emailed you about the attempt. |
| Back at the depot after a missed delivery, and stored there. |
Das Paket ist im GLS PaketShop eingetroffen., Zugestellt im PaketShop | Waiting for you at a GLS Parcel Shop, which the tracking page names. |
Zugestellt, Das Paket wurde erfolgreich zugestellt. | Delivered. |
Zugestellt im PaketShop says delivered, but you still have to pick the parcel up.
GLS delivery in Austria: neighbours, Parcel Shops and lockers
When. Monday to Friday during business hours. GLS's terms count working days except Saturdays and don't guarantee the 24 hours, and you can't pick an exact time. If the sender uses GLS's FlexDeliveryService, GLS emails you a link to the tracking, which shows the expected day once GLS has the parcel and, on the day, how many stops away the van is.
Nobody home. The driver first tries a neighbour, who signs for it, or else a nearby Parcel Shop or Parcel Locker, and GLS leaves a card or sends an email saying where it is. Parcels that can't go elsewhere, such as business or express parcels, are tried again the next working day; if that fails too, they go to the depot. GLS makes at most two attempts. Some parcels, such as those released only on photo ID, go to you in person only.
Collecting it. - Parcel Shop: from the day after the attempt, for up to eight working days, with the notification and photo ID. - Parcel Locker: up to three working days, following the notification's instructions. - Depot: from the next day, within four working days. Write to GLS through its recipient form first, and bring photo ID.
Then the parcel goes back to the sender automatically. Someone else can collect it with your written authorisation (on the back of the card, or GLS's PDF form) and their own photo ID. GLS counts 1,000 Parcel Shops and 1,500 lockers in Austria; the lockers open around the clock.
Changing delivery. Once you have a notification card or email, the tracking page shows the options your parcel allows, free of charge: a Parcel Shop or locker, another day within six calendar days of shipping (same time window), the depot, or a drop-off place such as your front door or garden. Another address works only through the sender's FlexDeliveryService. Delivery by 12 noon needs the sender to book GLS's ExpressService.
Drop-off permission. Give it once or for good, free, on the card, with GLS's PDF form or in a GLS-ONE account; revoke it with a signed letter or email to your nearest depot. Once a parcel is left there, GLS is no longer liable for loss or damage. It doesn't cover cash-on-delivery or dangerous-goods parcels, among others.
GLS parcel late, missing, damaged or at customs
For a refund or a new parcel, the shop is your contact.
No update. Daten übermittelt for days means the shop hasn't handed the parcel over: ask the sender. Eingelagert means it's at the depot: pick another delivery in the tracking page's "Not at home?" section, where your parcel allows it, or use GLS's recipient form before you collect it. Otherwise see why tracking stops updating.
Delivered but not received. Check the tracking for a Parcel Shop, your letterbox and email for a card naming a neighbour, and any drop-off place you allowed. Then tell GLS through its recipient form ("Where was my parcel delivered / handed over?"), as GLS asks. More in delivered but not received.
Damaged. If the box is visibly damaged, you can refuse it: GLS takes it back and tells the sender. If only the contents are damaged, contact the sender. GLS wants both addresses, a description of the contents and photos, including the packaging and labels. See damaged parcels.
Customs. Goods bought online from outside the EU carry a €3 customs duty per item on parcels worth up to €150, since 1 July 2026, and a €2 Union handling fee per item, whatever the value, since 1 November 2026. An item is the goods sharing a tariff classification, description and, where required, origin. GLS Austria's pages don't say whether or how it passes these on to you: ask the shop whether your price included them. See parcels held at customs.
GLS Austria contact and customer service
Peek can't contact GLS or the shop for you. As read on 31 October 2026:
- Recipient form: GLS Austria's form for recipients, customer service Monday to Friday, 8 am to 6 pm. It needs the parcel number or Track ID, your postcode, phone and email.
- Phone: +43 5 9876 3000, in GLS Austria's company details. +43 059876 1000 is the call centre for GLS-ONE, GLS's service for senders. GLS lists no phone line for recipients.
- Post: General Logistics Systems Austria GmbH, Traunuferstraße 105a, 4052 Ansfelden.
Tracking a GLS Austria parcel with Peek
Paste the number in Peek. Several GLS companies use these shapes, so Peek asks the likely ones and goes by your country (your iPhone's region, or on the web where you connect from). In Austria you'll usually see "GLS Austria has this parcel." Elsewhere it usually names another GLS company, such as GLS Germany, which asks the same GLS service but needs the postcode: keep it and give the postcode, or press "Change" and pick GLS Austria. If no GLS company knows the number yet, add it anyway or pick GLS Austria from the carrier list: Peek follows more than 3,500 carriers. A pasted gls-group.com link with /AT/ in its path is tracked as GLS Austria.
The "Delivery postcode" field is marked "Optional", but GLS shows its scans only with it, as the line under the field says: "GLS Austria shows its scans only with the delivery postcode." Without it, Peek only learns whether GLS knows the number: it asks other tracking services meanwhile, and the parcel page offers "Add postcode". With an account, Peek tries the postcode of your latest parcel, once. If GLS doesn't find the parcel with the postcode, Peek says so and offers "Edit postcode". The postcode goes to GLS and, when needed, to tracking services, and never shows on shared links.
With the postcode, you see the status, each scan's place on a map, the expected day, the weight, the delivery time and, at a Parcel Shop, its name and address. Your name, address, contact details, the signature and the sender's reference are dropped. Peek reads GLS's English service rather than the German page: there, In Zustellung reads In delivery and Das Paket wurde erfolgreich zugestellt. reads The parcel has been delivered. A Parcel Shop arrival shows as "Ready for pickup". Times are read as Austrian time. Peek checks GLS about once an hour, delivery day included (4 hours after a failed check), and can notify you of changes.
