Hrvatska pošta tracking: statuses, lockers and contacts

7 min read

Peek is an independent tracker, not Hrvatska pošta. It shows what Hrvatska pošta’s own tracking publishes.

Hrvatska pošta (Croatian Post) is Croatia's national post, with its Paket24 parcel service. Track an item on its English tracking page (the plain posiljka.posta.hr address opens in Croatian), or paste the number in the box above. The number comes from the sender: the shop's shipping email or order page, or Hrvatska pošta's own SMS and notices.

Hrvatska pošta tracking number

Hrvatska pošta calls it the item number (prijamni broj pošiljke). Items posted in Croatia carry the international postal shape: two letters, nine digits, then HR. Only items sent with a tracking service have one.

Shape (invented)What it is
RR123456785HRA postal item from Croatia: 13 characters ending in HR. Spaces don't matter (RR 123 456 785 HR).
RR123456785CNAn item from abroad keeps the foreign post's number, ending in the country it came from.
Other barcodesThe form also takes other barcodes of at least 5 characters, such as 3S… codes, 12-digit numbers and 20-digit SSCC codes.

You'll find it in the sender's message, and Hrvatska pošta's official messages carry it too: the arrival notice left in your letterbox (when the item has one) and the SMS and e-mail for parcel lockers. Lost it? See how to find a tracking number.

Other country letters mean another post: …SI is Pošta Slovenije, …RS is Pošta Srbije. A postal item from abroad keeps that foreign number when Hrvatska pošta delivers it.

What Hrvatska pošta tracking statuses mean

The tracker shows each step in Croatian, or in English with the EN switch, with a date, a time and usually the office or locker. Here are the English wordings, in the order a parcel meets them.

Hrvatska pošta's statusWhat it means for you
Item announcedThe sender has entered the details. Not handed over yet.
Item receivedAccepted at the post office the step names.
Item sentDispatched.
Item is out for deliveryWith the postman: delivery to your address is under way.
Delivery attemptThe postman tried, but nobody was available.
Delivery was redirected to the parcelstationSent to a parcel locker instead of your address.
The shipment has been handed over to the parcelstationWaiting for you in the locker.
Item can be picked up at the Post OfficeWaiting at the post office the step names.
Item not deliveredNobody picked it up in time: it is leaving the office.
Item deliveredDelivered to you or someone allowed to receive it.
Item returned to senderOn its way back to the sender.
Item delivered to senderReturned: the sender has it back.

Delivery attempt means the postman left a notice with pickup instructions or announced a new attempt; several attempts are all recorded. Item not delivered is easy to misread: it usually appears when an uncollected item leaves the post office, just before Item returned to sender.

Odd one: for a valid number with no data yet, the English page says Invalid barcode format (the Croatian page says there's no data for that number). Only Invalid shipment number format means a mistyped number. If an item stays unfound, the page points you to the Contact Centre.

Delivery, paketomat lockers and post office pickup

If you're out, or the item doesn't fit the letterbox, the postman leaves a notice saying where and until when you can pick it up. How long it waits depends on the service:

  • Post office, in general: 5 working days, says Hrvatska pošta's help page; then it goes back to the sender.
  • A parcel from abroad (universal service) and an ordinary Paket: 15 working days at the post office.
  • Paket 24: 5 working days at the post office.
  • Parcel lockers (paketomati): 3 days from the SMS or e-mail notice, with a reminder 12 hours before the deadline.

The notice gives the exact deadline, counted from the day on it.

Lockers. About 300 lockers, according to the English site, open around the clock. You open the door with the PIN or barcode from the notice, and can pay any cash-on-delivery amount there by card. Once Hrvatska pošta has your parcel, it can send an SMS and e-mail with a link to redirect it to a locker you choose.

Changing delivery. Redelivery can be requested at a post office or on 072 303 304, for a fee.

Who can collect: an item you sign for goes to the recipient, a legal representative or someone with a power of attorney; if that isn't possible, a household member over 15 or an employee at your home or workplace. ID is checked at the counter.

Croatian Post parcel delayed, lost or damaged

Hrvatska pošta aims to deliver 85% of domestic items in its fastest category the next working day; Paket 24 takes one to three working days (three for islands). If nothing moves for days, see tracking that isn't updating.

Customs. For goods from outside the EU, Hrvatska pošta acts as your customs representative and collects VAT (and duty where due) plus its fee on delivery: 2.46 € for items up to 150 € without an IOSS number, 4.91 € from 150 to 1,000 €. Items with IOSS cost nothing extra. See parcels held at customs.

Complaints (loss, delay, damage, missing contents): within 3 months of posting for domestic items, 6 months for international ones, at a post office or with the web form. Report damage when the item is handed over, so a report can be drawn up; for a locker parcel, within one hour of collection. Hrvatska pošta answers within 30 days (60 internationally); then the Consumer Complaints Committee and the regulator HAKOM. Compensation goes to the sender, so for an online order, the shop claims.

Tracking Hrvatska pošta parcels with Peek

For a postal number ending HR with a valid check digit, Peek asks Hrvatska pošta (and Chronopost) at once and shows "Hrvatska pošta has this parcel." when it knows the number, or "Not found at … yet. Peek will keep checking after you add it." With a wrong check digit Hrvatska pošta isn't asked: check the number, or pick the carrier with "Change". A posiljka.posta.hr tracking link with the number in it always names Hrvatska pošta. Its other barcodes, typed, never do: use "Change".

An item from abroad stays with its foreign post in Peek, but Hrvatska pošta's lookup takes it: pick "Hrvatska pošta" with "Change".

Hrvatska pošta's times carry no time zone, so Peek doesn't list its own history. It takes a dated history from universal tracking services when one knows the parcel and asks Hrvatska pošta again every 6 hours; if no service answers, it shows the current status, dated when Peek saw it. Statuses keep Hrvatska pošta's English wording. Peek can show the post office or parcel locker where the parcel waits (by name) and the weight, and can notify you when the status changes. There's no expected delivery day, and postcodes are left out.

Questions about Croatian Post tracking

Can I track Hrvatska pošta in English?

Yes. posiljka.posta.hr opens in Croatian, but its EN switch, or the /en/tracking address, shows the form and every step in English.

Can I track an international parcel to Croatia?

Yes, with the postal number the sender gave you, which ends in the sending country's code. Hrvatska pošta's tracker accepts it, and so does Peek once you pick Hrvatska pošta.

How long does Hrvatska pošta keep a parcel in a paketomat?

3 days from the SMS or e-mail notice, with a reminder 12 hours before. If nobody collects it, it goes back to the sender.
