DPD Romania tracking: statuses, Smart Control and contact

9 min read

Peek is an independent tracker, not DPD Romania. It shows what DPD Romania’s own tracking publishes.

DPD Romania (Dynamic Parcel Distribution S.A.) is the Geopost group's courier in Romania, active there since 2008, with its head office in Mogoșoaia, Ilfov. Each parcel gets its own waybill number: track it on DPD's tracker, tracking.dpd.ro, which has an English version, through the Smart Control link in DPD's delivery SMS, or in the box above.

DPD Romania tracking number: where to find it

DPD calls it the waybill number, or AWB. DPD's pages give no length rule; the waybills Peek knows as DPD Romania's are 11 digits starting with 8:

Number (invented)What it is
8000000000011 digits starting with 8: a DPD Romania waybill. The shape also fits GLS Germany, GLS France, GLS Switzerland, GLS Austria, PPL and others.
0120000000000014 digits: the shape of parcel numbers from other DPD companies, such as DPD Germany, DPD UK, DPD France or DPD Portugal. Peek tracks DPD Romania by its 11-digit waybill only.

Look in the shop's shipping email or on your order page. DPD's mobile app has a recipient dashboard; you sign in with a code sent by SMS or email. If the shop names Cargus, FAN Courier or Sameday instead, the number is theirs. No number at all? See how to find your tracking number.

What DPD Romania's tracking statuses mean

DPD's tracker answers in Romanian or English; its Romanian scans come in an older, short wording or a newer sentence. In the order a parcel usually meets them:

DPD saysWhat it means for you
Shipment data received, Receptionare informatii colet, Expedierea ta a fost înregistrată de către expeditor. The sender has created the waybill. DPD has the details, not yet the parcel.
Expedierea nu a putut fi preluată de către curierul DPD.The courier couldn't collect it from the sender; a reason follows.
Courier Pick-up, Expedierea ta a fost preluată de la expeditor de către curierul DPD.A DPD courier collected it from the sender.
Received in Office, Receptie la sediuA DPD office took it in, from a courier or at its counter.
On its way to the depot that delivers it.
Expedierea ta a ajuns în depozitul de destinație.At the depot that delivers it: delivery comes next.
Predict, Predict – s-au trimis informațiile cu privire la intervalul orar de livrare.DPD has sent you the delivery time window. A message, not a scan.
Out for Delivery, Iesire in livrare, Expedierea ta a fost preluată spre livrare de către curierul DPD.With the courier for delivery.
Livrare nereusita, Expedierea ta nu a putut fi livrată.Not delivered. The reason follows, such as a wrong address or a refusal.
Expedierea ta a fost returnată în depozitul DPD.Back at the depot after a failed delivery round, not a return.
Delivered, LivratDelivered. The tracker adds the name of the person who took it.
Retur catre expeditorGoing back to the sender, under a return waybill given in the note.
Retur livrat catre expeditorThe sender has it back.
Canceled, Expedierea ta a fost anulată.The waybill was cancelled: ask the shop.

Shipment data received often shows the expected delivery date. Scans at DPD depots abroad name the depot and its country.

DPD delivery in Romania: Smart Control, offices and lockers

When. DPD Standard delivers anywhere in Romania within 1 to 2 working days. You pay any cash-on-delivery amount to the courier, in cash or, in urban areas, by card.

Smart Control. Before delivery, DPD sends an SMS with the delivery date and a Smart Control link. It's free, and from it you can confirm or change the address, see where your parcel is, send it to a DPD warehouse, office, locker or DPD Shop, or postpone delivery to the next working day. Redirection is free within the same city. Delivery is contactless: the electronic signature is no longer required. DPD may check who you are with your ID and a PIN sent by SMS or email.

Missed delivery. DPD tries twice, on consecutive working days. After the second try it leaves a notice and keeps the parcel free of charge at a staffed DPD point for 5 calendar days, during which you can agree a last delivery. Express and Livrare specială parcels get one try, then go back to the sender. DPD doesn't deliver to letterboxes. If you refuse a parcel, or refuse to pay its cash-on-delivery amount, DPD starts the return to the sender that day, without holding it for you.

Offices, lockers and Parcel Shops. Collection periods, as DPD gives them:

  • DPD office: 7 calendar days; pay in cash, by card or Pay by Link.
  • DPD locker: 3 calendar days (72 hours from the notice, in DPD's terms); outdoor lockers open 24/7; card or Pay by Link.
  • DPD Parcel Shop: 5 calendar days; Pay by Link or card (no card at Pay Point locations).

After the collection period, the parcel goes back to the sender within 5 working days (10 for an international parcel).

DPD Romania parcel late, lost, damaged or at customs

For a refund or a new parcel, ask the shop: it holds the contract with DPD.

No update. If the status stays the same for a long time, or the parcel misses its time, DPD asks you to contact client@dpd.ro or 031 824 90 90. See tracking that isn't updating.

Delivered but not received. DPD's tracker names the person who took the parcel: ask them first, then contact DPD and the shop. More in delivered but not received.

Returned. Retur catre expeditor means the parcel is going back. Ask the shop to send it again. See returned to sender.

Complaints. The sender and the recipient can both complain within 6 months of posting, on DPD's form: by email to reclamatii@dpd.ro, online, at a staffed DPD point or by registered post. DPD settles within 3 months and pays within 15 days of settling. For a lost or damaged parcel sent without a declared value or cash on delivery, DPD pays 5 times the service price. Within 1 year of posting, you can also go to ANCOM, Romania's communications regulator, or to court. See lost parcels.

Customs. Goods bought online from outside the EU carry a €3 EU customs duty per item on parcels worth up to €150, since 1 July 2026, and a €2 Union handling fee per item, whatever the value, since 1 November 2026. DPD Romania's pages don't say how it passes these on: ask the shop whether your price included them. Its notice of 22 December 2025 also explains Romania's fixed 25 RON fee on each parcel from outside the EU declared under €150, introduced on 1 January 2026: the seller, sender or marketplace pays it, and DPD collects it from them. See parcels held at customs.

Tracking a DPD Romania parcel with Peek

Paste the 11-digit waybill in Peek. Other carriers share that shape, so Peek asks the likely ones, by your country (your iPhone's region, or on the web where you connect from). In Romania it asks DPD Romania first, and you'll see "DPD Romania has this parcel." when DPD knows the number. Elsewhere it asks other carriers: if you see "not found yet · Peek keeps checking", press "Change" and pick DPD Romania, or use "Change carrier" on a parcel already added. Paste it all the same: Peek follows more than 3,500 carriers. A tracking.dpd.ro link with shipmentNumber= works too.

Peek asks DPD for its English tracking and shows the status, the history in DPD's words with each scan's town (and country), the expected delivery date while the parcel is on its way, and the delivery time. It leaves out who received it, the signature and the return waybill; DPD gives no weight or sender.

When DPD hands a parcel to ACS Courier for the last leg, to Cyprus for example, it names ACS and the ACS number. If that number has ten digits, as ACS's vouchers do, Peek asks ACS with it and follows ACS once it has a scan as recent as DPD's latest. Until then, or for a number of another shape, Peek follows DPD, and the parcel's card already names ACS and shows its number.

Peek checks every 10 minutes, or every 2 minutes once the parcel is out for delivery, and notifies you as you choose: "Every scan", "Important steps" or "Delivery only". After two days without news (12 hours while the parcel still shows "Label created" or "Received by carrier"), Peek checks hourly. To change the delivery, use Smart Control.
