GLS France tracking: statuses, Relais GLS and contact
GLS France, part of the GLS Group, works only with businesses, so your parcel comes from a shop or company. Track it on GLS France's tracking page with the parcel number, no postcode needed, or paste the number in the box above. The number is in the seller's confirmation email or in GLS's email or SMS announcing the delivery.
GLS France tracking number: where to find it
Look in the seller's purchase confirmation email first. If the sender booked GLS's FlexDeliveryService, GLS emails or texts you the number, with the expected day and time slot, when the parcel sets off for delivery.
| Number (invented) | What it is |
|---|---|
00ABC123 | 8 letters and digits, often starting 00: the parcel number. |
12345678901 | 11 digits: the other form of the parcel number. |
001234567801 | 12 digits: the 11-digit number plus a check digit printed on labels. |
| 5 or 6 characters | The reference on GLS's delivery notice. |
After a missed delivery, GLS leaves a notice (avis de passage) or sends it by SMS or email, with a reference GLS France calls the Track-ID. It works in GLS's tracking to follow or reschedule the parcel. GLS Germany uses "Track ID" for the 8-character code instead.
Eight characters also fit GLS Germany and GLS Switzerland; 11 digits fit them too, plus PostLogistics and DHL eCommerce Poland; 12 digits fit Colis Privé, Mondial Relay, BRT, DPD France and others. If the shop's email names another carrier, go with that. More in tracking number formats.
What GLS France tracking statuses mean
GLS's tracking site opens in French, with an EN switch in its header. These are its English headlines, in the order a parcel meets them:
| GLS says | What it means for you |
|---|---|
Your parcel is being processed | GLS has the sender's data, not the parcel yet. |
Your parcel is on its way | Moving through GLS's network. |
Your parcel is in GLS Depot | At the depot that will deliver it. Not a pickup point. |
Your parcel is out for delivery | In the van, expected today. |
Your parcel is delivered | Delivered: the history line says how. |
Your parcel will be available shortly at the Relais GLS | On its way to a pickup shop. |
Your parcel is now available at the Relais GLS | Ready for pickup at the shop. |
Your parcel is now available at the Locker GLS | Ready for pickup in a GLS locker. |
Your parcel is waiting for you at the GLS Depot | You can collect it at the depot. |
Delivery of your parcel has been delayed | A new day, or missing address details. |
Your parcel cannot be delivered due to an address problem | An address problem stopped delivery. |
Your parcel has been returned to shipper | Going, or gone, back to the sender. |
Your parcel is being processed sounds like movement, but GLS has only the sender's data. Delivery of your parcel has been delayed covers a rescheduled day and incomplete address details. Your parcel could not be delivered likewise covers a missed delivery and an incident. A parcel at customs can still read Your parcel is on its way. Under Your parcel is delivered, the history line Parcel has been delivered to a third party. means a neighbour or concierge has it.
GLS delivery, Relais GLS and missed deliveries
When. Monday to Friday, 8am to 6pm, with no appointments. GLS quotes 24 hours for most of France, 24 to 96 hours to neighbouring countries and 72 to 120 hours further away.
Nobody home. The driver first tries a concierge or neighbour, against signature; the notice says who has it. Failing that, it may go to a nearby Relais GLS, or back to the depot for another attempt. After two failed attempts it waits at the depot, then goes back to the sender. GLS's help page gives both 5 and 10 working days for that, so collect it soon or ask GLS.
Changing the delivery. Enter the notice reference in GLS's tracking to pick a new date or address, allow a safe place or collect the parcel at the depot. With FlexDeliveryService, GLS's emails also offer a Relais GLS, and a link sent on delivery day changes the choice (allow up to 24 hours). What's offered depends on what the sender booked.
Pickup points. GLS France counts over 10,000 in France: Relais GLS shops, GLS lockers, "Voisins Relais" (private keepers in the Pickme network who contact you), and Mondial Relay and Relais Colis points. A parcel waits 8 days, or 5 at a Mondial Relay point, with a reminder after 3 days, then goes back to the sender. Bring valid ID and the notice; someone else needs your written authorisation and their own ID. No locker code? Call 09 74 910 910, then press 2, then 2.
GLS parcel late, lost or damaged in France
GLS France's contract is with the sender, so compensation, refunds and complaints go through the shop.
No update. GLS France's pages say nothing about tracking that stops moving. Ask the sender, and see why tracking stops updating.
Delivered but not received. Check for a notice naming a neighbour, then send the shop a claim with a sworn statement of non-receipt (GLS's help page has the form), with the parcel number, your name, phone, email and signature. More in delivered but not received.
Damaged. Refuse a visibly damaged box: it goes back to the depot and the sender is told. For damaged contents, write to the sender within 72 hours by registered letter, with photos if you can. If you sign for a damaged parcel, describe the damage precisely: GLS says "subject to unpacking" doesn't count. Keep the whole parcel until the case is closed.
GLS France contact number and customer service

Tracking a GLS France parcel with Peek
Peek names GLS France at once for an 8-character number starting 00 and mixing letters and digits. For other 8-character codes, 11 digits and 12 digits with GLS's check digit, it asks the likely carriers, GLS France first, and GLS France wins when it knows the parcel ("GLS France has this parcel."). No postcode is needed. Links from moncolis.gls-france.com, gls-france.com and gls-group pages with /FR/ work too; the notice reference doesn't.
Peek shows the status, the history, the expected day (until delivery, a pickup-point wait or a problem), the sender's name, the delivery time and, while the parcel waits, the shop, locker or depot's name and address. GLS's scans carry facility codes such as FR0012, not towns, so nothing appears on the map. GLS France sends only status codes, so the wordings are Peek's own. Your name, address, contact details, signature and instructions are dropped; there's no weight. Peek checks GLS about once an hour, and 4 hours after a failed check, and can notify you of each change. Old parcels drop out of GLS's tracking, and Peek doesn't follow a parcel to another carrier.
