Omniva tracking: codes, statuses and parcel machines

8 min read

Peek is an independent tracker, not Omniva. It shows what Omniva’s own tracking publishes.

Omniva is Estonia's post (the company is still Eesti Post) and the parcel network behind the parcel machines in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. Track a parcel with its shipment tracking code on minu.omniva.ee, in the Omniva app, or paste the code in the box above. The code comes from the shop's shipping email or from Omniva's own SMS or email.

Omniva tracking number: what it looks like

Omniva calls it the "shipment tracking code" or "shipment code (tracking number)". Its English returns help gives the example CEXXXXXXXXEE. These are the shapes you are likely to see (all digits invented):

CodeWhat it is
JJEE12345678901234567An Omniva parcel: JJEE and 17 digits, 21 characters in all.
JJEEABC12345678901Another Omniva parcel code: JJEE, three letters, 11 digits.
CE123456785EETwo letters, nine digits, EE: an item handed to Omniva, in the international postal format. Parcels delivered to parcel machines in Latvia and Lithuania carry codes ending EE too.
RR123456785CNA parcel from abroad keeps the sender's number; this one ends CN, posted in China.

The six-digit door code in the delivery SMS opens the parcel machine and is not a tracking number; neither is the six-digit return code.

A code ending LV belongs to Latvijas Pasts, one ending LT to Lietuvos paštas, and JJFI codes to Posti in Finland. More shapes: tracking number formats.

Omniva tracking statuses in English

Omniva's tracking pages run in English, Estonian, Latvian, Lithuanian and Russian, and Omniva's app reports the steps in English. "Track & trace details" opens the full timeline. The usual steps, roughly in order:

Omniva saysWhat it means for you
Shipment registered. Shipment has not been handed over to OmnivaThe sender created the shipment. Omniva doesn't have it yet.
Sender has placed the shipment in the parcel machineThe sender dropped it at a parcel machine.
The courier has picked up the shipmentAn Omniva courier collected it from the sender.
Shipment has been posted by the sender or collected by the postal serviceA parcel from abroad was posted in the sending country.
Shipment held in customsIt is waiting for customs clearance.
Shipment has arrived at a postal facility for further processingIn Omniva's network, at the terminal or sorting line named beside it.
The shipment has been handed over to the courierOut for delivery.
Shipment is ready for collection from the parcel machineWaiting in the named parcel machine. Use the six-digit door code.
A notification of shipment arrival has been sentOmniva sent you an SMS, email or app notice. The parcel didn't move.
Delivery attempt madeThe courier tried and failed.
Shipment deliveredDelivered or picked up; the parcel machine or post office is named.
Shipment is being returned to the senderOn its way back.

Two catch people out: Delivery attempt made means the attempt failed, and Shipment delivered after a return means the parcel is back with the sender.

Omniva parcel machines, couriers and missed deliveries

Notices. Omniva tells you by SMS, email or app notification. In the Omniva app, SMS notices are off by default; turn them on under Profile, Notification preferences.

At the parcel machine. Type the six-digit door code at the machine named in the message. Anyone with the code can pick up for you. No ID is needed unless the sender added identity checks.

Storage. Parcel machines keep a parcel for 4 days in all three countries; in Estonia and Lithuania Omniva sends a reminder before the deadline. In the e-service you can extend it by up to 4 days at a time, up to 12 days in total, for a fee. Storage at an Estonian post office can be extended once, by up to a month. If a parcel isn't picked up in time, it goes back to the sender, who pays for the return.

Courier. You get an SMS with the delivery date, and the courier phones before arriving (in Latvia and Lithuania, to agree a day and time). Couriers deliver to the door: up to 30 kg in Estonia and Latvia, 25 kg in Lithuania. If the time doesn't suit you, ask the courier for another day or a nearby parcel machine.

Missed courier delivery. Parcels up to size L go to a nearby parcel machine for 4 days. Larger ones wait 7 days at a post office or delivery centre in Estonia and 4 days at the delivery centre in Latvia; in Lithuania they go back to the sender.

Redirecting. Free until the parcel reaches the sorting centre, through Omniva's email link or the e-service; after that, or to switch to courier delivery, there is a fee. A parcel may also be redirected because the machine was full.

Omniva parcel delayed, damaged or held in customs

Not delivered or no update. First check that Omniva's delivery time (below) has passed. If it has, Omniva asks the recipient to contact the sender, who files the "Request parcel delivery status" form. See why tracking stops updating.

Empty locker or wrong place. Contact Omniva's private customer support in your country.

Damaged. In Estonia the recipient can file the damaged or lost shipment form within 6 months of hand-over, though usually only the sender is refunded. In Latvia and Lithuania the help pages tell recipients to contact the sender (in Lithuania with photos of the parcel and packaging), and the sender files the claim.

Customs (Estonia). Since 1 July 2021 every parcel from outside the EU must be declared, whatever its value, within 30 days. You can authorise Omniva or declare it yourself to the Tax and Customs Board. See parcels held at customs.

Omniva tracking with Peek

Peek names a JJEE code of either shape above as Omniva's straight away. Links from minu.omniva.ee, mana.omniva.lv and mano.omniva.lt (/track/ and the code), and omniva.ee or omniva.lt tracking links with barcode=, work for any code. No postcode needed.

For a postal-format number ending EE, Peek asks Omniva first, with Chronopost, and names Omniva once it knows the code. If Omniva doesn't know it yet, you see "Not found at … yet. Peek will keep checking after you add it." It keeps asking, less often over time, for up to a month. With a wrong check digit, pick Omniva with "Change". A foreign postal number tracks at Omniva after "Change" or from an Omniva link; Peek does not pass parcels between Omniva and other carriers.

It shows Omniva's English statuses, the Omniva site of each scan, the destination country, the delivery time and the parcel machine or post office it waits at. It drops addresses, postcodes and failure reasons, and shows no expected delivery or weight. Peek checks every 10 minutes (every 2 once out for delivery), puts each scan on a map and can notify you of changes. Old parcels may keep only the delivery.

Questions about Omniva tracking

How long does Omniva take to deliver?

Omniva gives 1 to 2 working days within one Baltic country and 2 to 3 working days between them, from hand-over to Omniva. Couriers deliver the next day, and no later than 3 days after hand-over.

Can I track an Omniva parcel by phone number?

Omniva's pages describe tracking by shipment code only. An Omniva e-service account at minu.omniva.ee lists your future parcels in one place.

What does "Delivery attempt made" mean at Omniva?

The courier tried to deliver and failed; the wording only sounds like success.

Can I track an international parcel to Estonia with Omniva?

Yes, if the sending country entered it into the international database; before it reaches Estonia, use the sending country's postal site.
