Chunghwa Post (Taiwan Post) tracking: numbers and statuses
Chunghwa Post (中華郵政) is Taiwan's national post, a government-owned company that also runs savings accounts and life insurance. Track an item on its Track & Trace Service, in English or Chinese, or paste the number in the box above. The number is on the sender's posting receipt, so for a parcel from Taiwan, ask the sender or the shop for it. The tracker asks for a picture code (Captcha) and only covers items posted in the past six months.
Chunghwa Post tracking number: what it looks like
An international item from Taiwan has 13 characters: two letters, nine digits and TW. Chunghwa Post's tracker says what the first letter means. With invented digits:
| Shape (invented) | What it is |
|---|---|
EE000000005TW | E: EMS, the international express service. |
RR000000005TW | R: an international registered letter. |
LX000000005TW | L: an international ePacket, a small packet. |
CP000000005TW | C: an international parcel. |
00000000000000 | 14 digits (or 20): an item sent within Taiwan, on Chunghwa Post's domestic tracker. |
Chunghwa Post says ordinary small packets with a number starting with U can't be tracked online. See how to find a tracking number if you don't have it.
Chunghwa Post tracking statuses explained
These are the scans Peek knows, in Chunghwa Post's Chinese, roughly in the order a parcel meets them:
| Chunghwa Post says | What it means for you |
|---|---|
交寄郵件 | Posted: the sender handed it in at a post office counter. |
運輸途中 | In transit between Chunghwa Post's offices. |
離開進口局 | It left an office on its way. |
到達出口互換局 | It reached the office of exchange that sends it abroad. |
已出口-資料詳如右方 | Exported: it has left Taiwan. |
郵袋接收 | The mail bag it travels in was received. |
到達寄達國互換局 | It reached the office of exchange in the destination country. |
海關查驗 | At customs, for inspection. |
離開寄達國互換局 | It left the office of exchange in the destination country. |
到達寄達國投遞局 | It reached the delivery office in the destination country. |
安排投遞中 | At the delivery office, waiting to go out on a round. |
郵件投遞中 | Out for delivery. |
投遞不成功 | The delivery failed. The reason, and a return to the sender if there is one, are in a remark Peek leaves out: see Chunghwa Post's tracker. |
投遞成功 | Delivered. |
安排投遞中 and 郵件投遞中 are Chunghwa Post's own delivery steps, for parcels coming into Taiwan. For a parcel from Taiwan, the last steps come from your own post.
If the tracker has nothing for the number, check the 13 characters, and that the item was posted in the past six months.
Chunghwa Post parcels to Europe: where to follow them
Chunghwa Post carries the item out of Taiwan, then the destination country's post takes over. Chunghwa Post's tracker links to the sites of frequent destinations:
- Italy: Poste Italiane for EMS and parcels, none for letters.
- Germany: DHL for EMS and parcels, Deutsche Post for letters.
- France: Chronopost for EMS and parcels, none for letters.
- Spain: Correos.
- United Kingdom: Royal Mail and Parcelforce.
- Ireland: An Post.
- Netherlands: PostNL for EMS and parcels, none for letters.
- Portugal: none.
Search that site with the same TW number once Chunghwa Post shows 已出口-資料詳如右方. Delivery attempts, notices and how long a parcel waits at a post office follow your post's rules: see its page and missed a delivery.
Registered letters. Chunghwa Post says the US, Canada, Australia, Denmark, South Africa, the Netherlands, Italy, the United Kingdom, Bahrain, Yemen, Romania, Brazil and France no longer provide tracking for international registered mail. So a registered letter from Taiwan to one of these countries can't be followed online; to look for it, the sender files a written inquiry at any post office counter in Taiwan.
Customs. Taiwan is outside the EU, so a parcel from there goes through customs in your country. Since 1 July 2026, goods bought online from outside the EU in orders up to €150 carry a €3 EU customs duty per item, on top of VAT. From 1 November 2026, a €2 EU handling fee per item applies too, whatever the order's value. More in parcels held at customs.
Sending a parcel to Taiwan: delivery and customs
Your own post carries the parcel to Taiwan, and Chunghwa Post delivers it there.
Every imported parcel goes through Taiwanese customs, and customs decides whether tax is due, Chunghwa Post says. Taipei Customs gives these thresholds for parcels:
- Up to NT$2,000, counting the goods, insurance and freight: no duty or tax.
- NT$2,000 to US$5,000: customs usually has the post office collect the duty when it delivers the parcel, with a "Duty Memo for Foreign Imports by Parcel Post".
- Over US$5,000: the recipient goes through clearance and pays at the customs office.
Taipei Customs also warns that some goods are restricted or banned from import, among them medical devices, plant seeds, meat products and e-cigarettes: check before you send.
Chunghwa Post tracking not updating, lost or delayed
Quiet after it left Taiwan. After 已出口-資料詳如右方, the parcel is on its way to the destination post or already with it: check that post's tracking with the same number. More in why tracking stops updating.
EMS to Germany. For now Chunghwa Post shows no details for EMS sent to Germany, and sends you to the Deutsche Post/DHL site with the same number. Its Chinese notes add that Deutsche Post's site reads "Delivered" both when it delivers the item and when it passes it to customs for inspection.
Lost or late. The sender asks for a search: a written inquiry at the post office where the item was posted, with the original receipt. For EMS, that's within 4 months from the day after posting; for parcels and registered mail, within 6 months. Later than that, Chunghwa Post may refuse the inquiry and pay no compensation. So for a parcel from Taiwan, ask the sender or the shop to file it in time, and see lost parcels. For a parcel you sent to Taiwan, ask the post you sent it with.
Delivered but not there. In Europe your own post made the delivery, so start with its tracking and proof of delivery. See delivered but not received.

Track a Chunghwa Post parcel with Peek
Peek recognises two letters, nine digits and TW as Chunghwa Post straight away when the first letter is C, E, L or R (or the letters are FT or FZ) and the check digit, the last of the nine, is right. With a wrong one, Peek doesn't take it for Chunghwa Post: check the number on the receipt. Links to Chunghwa Post's tracker of the form CSController?MAILNO= work too. Peek doesn't take a UH number for Chunghwa Post by its shape, and doesn't read 14- or 20-digit domestic numbers from Chunghwa Post: paste them all the same, as Peek follows more than 3,500 carriers.
Peek reads Chunghwa Post's international tracker and shows each scan in Chinese, as Chunghwa Post wrote it, with the office that made it. It knows the stages of the lines in the table above. Peek reads Chunghwa Post's own scans on Taiwan time, and scans made abroad on the local time of the post that made them. Chunghwa Post gives no expected delivery date or weight, and Peek leaves out the remarks beside each scan.
For a number ending in TW, Peek also asks the national post of the country you track it from, with the same number: Poste Italiane from Italy, DHL from Germany, Correos from Spain, Royal Mail from the UK. It switches to that post once it shows fresh scans, and keeps Chunghwa Post's history. The other way round, when your post's tracking names Taiwan as the destination, Peek asks Chunghwa Post with your post's number, unless it starts with U.
Peek checks every 10 minutes by day (8am to 10pm Swiss time), every 2 minutes once the parcel is out for delivery, every hour or two overnight, and hourly after two days without news. It can notify you of "Every scan", "Important steps" or "Delivery only". It can't contact Chunghwa Post, your post or the shop for you.
Questions about Chunghwa Post tracking
Is Chunghwa Post the same as Taiwan Post?
Yes. Chunghwa Post (中華郵政, Chunghwa Post Co., Ltd.) is Taiwan's national post, and Peek knows it under both names. Its international tracking numbers end in TW.
Where do I track a Chunghwa Post parcel in Italy?
On Chunghwa Post's tracker until 已出口-資料詳如右方, then on Poste Italiane's site with the same number: Chunghwa Post points to poste.it for EMS and parcels to Italy, and says Italy no longer tracks registered letters. Peek asks Poste Italiane for you when you track the parcel from Italy.
Why is my Chunghwa Post tracking not updating?
If the last line is 已出口-資料詳如右方, the parcel has left Taiwan: check your own post's tracking with the same number, and allow time for customs. Registered letters to Italy, France, the UK and several other countries, and U numbers, can't be tracked online, Chunghwa Post says.
What does 海關查驗 mean?
The item is at customs for inspection. For a parcel from Taiwan, see parcels held at customs for what your country may charge.
How long does Chunghwa Post keep tracking?
Its tracker only shows items posted in the past six months. The sender's written inquiry has its own deadline: 4 months for EMS, 6 months for parcels and registered mail, from the day after posting.
