Canpar tracking: numbers, statuses and missed deliveries
Canpar Express is a Canadian parcel courier, owned by TFI International, that delivers across Canada. Track a parcel with its barcode number on canpar.com or by pasting it in the box above. The shop gives you that number in its shipping email or on your order page, and it's printed on the parcel's label.
Canpar tracking number: format and where to find it
Each Canpar parcel gets its own barcode number, in the shop's shipping confirmation, on the order page and on the label. Still nothing? See where else to find a tracking number.
Parcels today carry one letter (C, D, K, L, S, U, X or Z) followed by 21 digits, 22 characters in all. Canpar's FAQ says 8 to 20 digits, but current numbers are longer.
| Shape (invented) | What it is |
|---|---|
D123456789012345678901 | The parcel's barcode number: the one to track. |
W12345678 | A delivery notice number (W + 8 or 9 digits), printed on the card a driver leaves. |
P123456789 | A Pick Up Tag (P + 9 digits); return tags are R + 8 digits. |
Canpar's own tracking tool also takes these, and a sender's reference with the destination postal code. A barcode can be searched online for about a year; for ones up to three years old, email [email protected].
No results? Canpar says this usually means the shop has made the label but hasn't handed the parcel over yet. If nothing shows within 24 hours of getting the number, contact the shop.
A full 22-character Canpar number fits no other carrier. Shorter ones can look like another carrier's, so if the email names Canpar, trust the email.
What Canpar's tracking statuses mean
Canpar writes its statuses in English on canpar.com/en (French on canpar.com/fr). These are the ones a parcel usually meets, in order.
| Canpar's status | What it means for you |
|---|---|
Label created | The shop has sent Canpar the details; Canpar doesn't have the parcel yet. |
Picked Up and On the Move! | Canpar has collected it from the sender. |
Sorting It Out-Stay Tuned! | It's being sorted at a Canpar terminal. |
Departing sort facility | It has left a terminal. |
Package Has Arrived at Our Facility | It has reached a terminal, often the one near you. |
Out for Delivery-Almost There! | It's on the driver's vehicle for delivery today. |
Consignee Not Home | The driver came and nobody was home. |
Can't Find the Address-Checking Again! | Not delivered: the address couldn't be found or was incomplete. |
Ready for Pickup at Your Local SMARTSpot | It's waiting at a SMARTSpot pickup point. |
Your Package was Delivered with no Signature Required | Delivered and left without a signature. |
Our Package was Delivered | Delivered. |
Returned to Sender | It's going back to the shop. |
The FAQ still speaks of With Courier, the older name for out for delivery. Our Package was Delivered is how Canpar words the delivered scan; the summary line on top simply says Delivered. No tracking results available for this Barcode means Canpar holds no scans yet.
Long gaps are normal: between terminals there are no scans until arrival. Delayed at Facility, Handed Off to a Local Delivery Partner and Package was sorted to the incorrect terminal come with Canpar's longer note: "Your shipment is on hold, please connect with a live agent for further updates". Weather's Slowing Us Down, But We're on It! is a weather delay, and Change of Address means the address is being updated and the parcel forwarded.
Canpar delivery, SMARTSpots and missed deliveries
Canpar delivers Monday to Friday, homes as late as 7pm, businesses 9am to 5pm. Drivers don't call ahead. Your estimated delivery date is on the tracking results.
Missed delivery. A home address gets one attempt; the driver can't come back the same day, so the parcel goes to a SMARTSpot. Business addresses get up to two attempts, and the notice gives the day of the next one. Type the W number from the card into Canpar's tracking to see where the parcel is held.
SMARTSpots are partner shops across Canada (more than 800, says Canpar). A parcel is ready after 12pm on the next business day and kept for at most 5 business days. Bring ID. Someone else can pick it up if their ID shows the delivery address on the label; otherwise they need a completed Authorization Notice.
Changing the delivery. Before the driver's attempt, most parcels can be sent to a SMARTSpot: track the parcel on canpar.com, then choose Redirect to SMARTSpot under Delivery Options. A fee applies under Canpar's terms. For another address, or another attempt, call customer service; extra attempts are paid by Visa or MasterCard over the phone.
Leaving it at the door. Leave a signed note to the outside of your front door saying where to leave it. This doesn't work for parcels needing a signature in person, and Canpar never leaves parcels unattended in apartment or condo buildings. Canpar doesn't deliver to PO boxes, RR addresses or Range Roads.
Canpar tracking not updating, lost or damaged parcels
No scans for a few days in the middle of the journey is usually the terminal-to-terminal gap. If it lasts, the shop is the one to chase: it holds the contract with Canpar, and Canpar's claim form asks for the shipper's account number and Canpar emails its decision to the shipping account holder. See tracking that isn't updating.
Canpar's own deadlines:
- Damaged: report it within 60 days of delivery and keep the item and all packaging until the investigation ends; customer service arranges any inspection.
- Lost: file within 180 days of the shipping date, after a trace with customer service. A claim needs the trace number (T + 7 digits) Canpar gives you.
- Canpar's trace and claims team replies within 2 to 5 business days, and investigations can take up to 30 days.
If tracking says delivered and you have nothing, check the proof of delivery link Canpar adds to the tracking results, then see delivered but not received.

Tracking Canpar parcels with Peek
Peek names Canpar as soon as you paste a full 22-character number, or a canpar.com link containing it. It doesn't track references, delivery notice (W) numbers, pickup tags or return tags, so paste the full tracking number from the email or label.
It shows Canpar's status in Canpar's English words, the expected delivery day and the service, such as GROUND. A SMARTSpot parcel shows as ready for pickup, without the shop's name or address. It drops the proof of delivery, recipient, addresses and references. A handoff to a local partner shows as in transit; the partner isn't followed.
Canpar's scan times carry no time zone, so Peek takes the dated history from tracking services, shows it on a map and asks Canpar again every 6 hours. If no service answers, it shows Canpar's current status, dated when Peek saw it. Times can differ from Canpar's page. Peek can notify you when the status changes.
Questions about Canpar tracking
How many digits is a Canpar tracking number?
Current numbers are one letter followed by 21 digits, such as the invented D123456789012345678901. Canpar's FAQ still mentions 8 to 20 digits.
Does Canpar deliver on weekends?
Usually not: Canpar delivers Monday to Friday. During peak season it says weekend deliveries may happen.
How late does Canpar deliver?
Until about 7pm at home addresses and 5pm at businesses. Canpar can't give a smaller window.
Is Canpar the same as Canada Post?
No. Canpar is a private courier owned by TFI International, with its own terminals and SMARTSpots; Canada Post is a separate carrier with its own tracking.
How long does Canpar take to deliver?
It depends on the service and on where the parcel starts and ends. Canpar's Transit Time Calculator gives the time for a route, and your tracking shows the expected day.
